چکیده

Abstract Data availability is key for modeling of wastewater treatment processes. However, process data are characterized by missing values and outliers. This study applied a self-organizing map (SOM) to fill in replace outliers from Kauma Sewage Treatment Plant Lilongwe, Malawi. We used primary secondary executed the SOM algorithm effluent pH, biochemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen. The results suggest that reliable filling gaps time series with less than 50% correlation coefficient (R) >0.90. failed reliably >50% values. For instance, high mean square error (MSE) 3,655.57, 10.62, 2,153.34 DO, BOD, respectively, were registered datasets more values, while very small MSE (MSE ≈ 0) associated DO >50%. Practitioners can use this approach improve planning management facilities where available records riddled observations.

Estimation of Missing Daily Precipitation and Runoff Using Self-Organizing Map (A Case Study: Mazandaran Province)

Expert aquatic designers face many problems; among these, in hydrology, defective occurrences in time-series can cause errors in the ultimate results of the study. This more often happens in the regions where the number of hydrometric and rain gauge stations is limited. In addition, assessing, developing and maintaining the use of water resources require accessible long-term and high-quality qu...

Evaluation of Sewage Sludge for Incineration (Case study: Arak Wastewater Treatment Plant)

Sewage sludge treatment has become a primary subject in wastewater treatment and energy production. This paper aims to study the feasibility of power generation by incineration from sewage sludge enriched with impurities like heavy metals. For this purpose, we chose Arak wastewater treatment plant (AWWTP) and used calorific bomb test for examination. The experimental results showed that the hea...

Re-use of unconventional water (sewage effluent) is one of the plans that can reduce the effects of desertification and it can provide integrated management of water resources in desert. In this direction, it is very important, investigating the effects of urban Wastewater on Soil Properties. Sampling strategy for detecting viruses in a sewage treatment plant.

A study of pollutant flows was carried out at a wastewater treatment plant in Nancy, France, which used activated-sludge treatment. To carry out observation of hourly flow variation, a sampling strategy needs to be defined. A comparison between two methods of sampling was conducted: dip samples every 2 h over a period of 24 h and one 24-h composite sample were taken from raw and treated wastewa...

Expert System Design for Sewage Treatment Plant

Nowadays the field of centralized control is linked to major production processes or industrial applications, where the flow of information allows optimizing the total production process. In the area of small to medium enterprises (SMEs) (Wang & Kai-Yi, 2009), however it is still underdeveloped (Liao, 2009). Perhaps the reason is not the lack of capacity for the design or the cost of the techno...
